About this place
Dasan Parish (다산성당) is a parish of the Catholic Archdiocese of Daegu in Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, with Saint Thomas the Apostle as its patron. It is listed at its present address in the archdiocese’s official parish directory and serves Catholics in Dasan-myeon and the surrounding area through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish community life.
In Dasan, where the urban fringe meets a more rural setting, the parish gathers local Catholics into a common liturgical community. Its official diocesan affiliation, patron saint, and canonical establishment clearly identify it as the parish responsible for Catholic life in this area.
History & origins
According to the official records of the Archdiocese of Daegu, Dasan Parish was established on June 28, 2002, with Saint Thomas the Apostle as its patron. This date marks the formal constitution of the Catholic community in Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, as an independent parish of the archdiocese.
This research prioritized official diocesan materials and publicly available parish information, but no reliable official chronology was found for a preceding mission station, the process of separation from a mother parish, or the construction and dedication of the first church. The historical account is therefore centered on the verified establishment of the parish in 2002.
