About this place
Gongneung-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Seoul Archdiocese's Nowon District 5 at 57 Dongil-ro 192-gil in Nowon-gu. It was established on December 3, 1981, and is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The parish serves Catholics in Gongneung through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community activities, with sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Word participating in parish ministry. A separate Sacred Word record at the same address refers to that religious community and should not be confused with the parish itself.
History & origins
Gongneung-dong Parish was established as a parish of the Archdiocese of Seoul on December 3, 1981. It later developed along with the urban growth of Gongneung into a local Catholic community with regular liturgy, sacraments, catechesis, devotional groups, and service activities.
Sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Word currently participate in parish ministry. The reliable public sources reviewed do not provide enough detail to establish a pre-parish mission stage or precise early construction and dedication dates, so no unsupported chronology has been added beyond the documented establishment and continuing parish life.
