Dasan Catholic Church is a parish of District 2 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu, located at 91 Migeum-ro in Dasan-dong, Namyangju. The current Catholic Church Directory in Korea confirms the parish at this address, and the parish honors Our Lady of the Rosary as its patron.
It is a comparatively young parish that developed alongside the growth of Dasan New Town. Its present church was created as a modern liturgical and community space where local Catholics gather for Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish activities. Devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary and the task of building a Catholic community in a new urban district are central to its present identity.
History & origins
Dasan Parish was formed in 2020 through separation from Jingeon and Jigeum-dong parishes. Secondary sources differ on the exact establishment date, giving either February 6 or February 18, so only the commonly supported year 2020 is used here.
After the new parish community took shape, plans for a permanent church moved forward. On April 20, 2022, Bishop Peter Lee Ki-heon and diocesan priests celebrated the groundbreaking Mass. The new church was completed in February 2023 and was dedicated later that year in September. The central historical pattern of Dasan is therefore the creation of a new parish alongside urban development and the rapid building of a permanent church for the growing community.
