About this place
Yudong Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Dogo-myeon, Asan, belonging to the Diocese of Daejeon. The Catholic Church directory in Korea identifies it as a mission station under Dogo Parish and confirms its present location. It is therefore not an independent parish but a local gathering place where Catholics continue their life of faith in connection with Dogo Parish.
Unlike a parish church, a mission station is not an independent pastoral unit centered on a resident priest, yet it has traditionally played an important role in allowing Catholics who live at some distance from the parish church to pray together and maintain community bonds. Yudong can likewise be understood as a place connecting a dispersed Catholic community in the Dogo area. Because publicly available official sources do not establish its date of foundation or the formation of its earliest community, it is safest to understand the site chiefly through its verified present affiliation and role.
