About this place
The Jochiwon branch of the Fraternity of the Little Sisters of Jesus is a women’s religious community in Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong Special Self-Governing City. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea lists it as a branch belonging to the Catholic Diocese of Daejeon and gives the official English name The Fraternity of the Little Sisters of Jesus. Members traditionally refer to themselves as “Little Sisters.”
Following the spirituality of Charles de Foucauld, the fraternity regards living among poor and marginalized neighbors, sharing a similar way of life, working, and building friendship with them as an important apostolate. The Jochiwon branch is significant as a small community living this form of religious life in the ordinary setting of the region. Its character is expressed in a contemplative and fraternal life close to neighbors rather than in a grand institutional monastery.
