About this place
Yangchon Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Daejeon and a local faith community in Yangchon-myeon, Nonsan. The Catholic Directory in Korea currently lists this place separately as “Yangchon Mission Station” among the mission stations of the Diocese of Daejeon, confirming the existence of a local community distinct from a parish.
The name “Yangchon” also appears in Korean Catholic historical sources as the name of an older parish in another area, so careful identification is especially important. This entry refers specifically to the present mission station in Yangchon-myeon, Nonsan, and the history of a different Yangchon Parish from another period and region should not be attached to it. The current place is therefore best understood through its verified identity as a mission-station community of the Diocese of Daejeon in the Nonsan area.
