About this place
Wonchi Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Ugang-myeon, Dangjin, belonging to the Diocese of Daejeon. Its present name and location are confirmed in a Catholic directory. Its essential character is not that of an independent parish but of a local Catholic community that continues its life of faith in connection with parish pastoral care. Unlike a parish with a resident priest, a mission station functions as a local gathering place where Catholics pray together and remain connected with a parish for Mass and the sacraments when these are provided.
Reliable publicly accessible sources do not sufficiently establish the year of foundation or the early formation of the Catholic community at Wonchi. The main point that can be stated securely for visitors is therefore that it remains a mission station of the Diocese of Daejeon in Ugang-myeon, Dangjin, and a local place of Catholic faith. Unverified founding dates or historical parish affiliations should not be inferred.
