Sangwol Mission Station

About this place

Sangwol Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Daejeon located in Sangwol-myeon, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. It is listed in the Catholic Directory of Korea among the mission stations of the diocese. As a Catholic form of community, a mission station is a place where believers in an area without a resident parish priest remain connected with a parent parish and continue communal faith life. Sangwol should therefore be understood not as an independent parish church, but primarily as a local center where Catholics of the Sangwol area gather in prayer and sustain relationships of faith.

The significance of a mission station lies less in the scale of its facilities than in providing a stable place where local Catholics can continue to gather. Sangwol likewise can be understood as a space that helps the local community maintain its faith within the pastoral care of a parent parish. Reliable public sources currently establish its existence and location more clearly than any distinctive programs or detailed operations, so the most appropriate introduction is centered on its identity as a local Catholic community space within the Diocese of Daejeon.
