About this place
Samseong-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Diocese of Daejeon located on Taejeon-ro in Dong-gu, Daejeon, and its patron is the Holy Family. The Catholic Directory of Korea and the Catholic Encyclopedia of Korea agree that Samseong-dong Parish is dedicated to the Holy Family. Its spiritual identity can therefore be understood as placing particular emphasis on living the faith in family and community life after the example of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
The present church is the center where Catholics of Samseong-dong and the surrounding area celebrate Mass and the sacraments and continue catechesis and community life. The parish was formerly known as Jeong-dong Parish and came to be called Samseong-dong Parish after moving to its present area, but for an introduction the present identity of the parish is more important than the detailed chronology. The most basic context for visitors is that this is a local parish in eastern Daejeon under the patronage of the Holy Family.
