About this place
Eungok Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Munsan-myeon, Seocheon-gun, belonging to the Diocese of Daejeon. A Catholic directory confirms its present name and location. Its character is that of a mission station serving the prayer and community life of local Catholics rather than an independent parish. Since mission stations help Catholics living at some distance from a parish church maintain a local community of faith, Eungok can be seen as a small but tangible expression of Catholic life in inland Seocheon.
The Korean Catholic Encyclopedia's entry on Hongsan Parish records part of Munsan-myeon, Seocheon, within Hongsan's jurisdiction and names Eungok as one of its mission stations. This shows that, at least at the time reflected by that historical reference, the Eungok community belonged to Hongsan's pastoral network. The same source does not by itself establish the mission station's present jurisdiction or date of foundation, so the site is best introduced through its verified current existence and its local significance rather than through unconfirmed chronology.
