History & origins

The official parish directory of the Archdiocese of Daegu records October 1, 1985, as the establishment date of St. Thomas Parish. An archdiocesan article marking the centenary of Namsan Parish lists St. Thomas among the parishes that were later separated from Namsan, confirming that an independent community emerged through the reorganization of parish territory in the Daemyeong-dong area.

Since its establishment, the parish has continued as an independent parish under the patronage of St. Thomas Aquinas.
