The Archdiocese of Daegu's parish directory records August 16, 2016 as the establishment date of Sasu Catholic Church. According to an archdiocesan parish profile published in 2023, the Sasu area was then a newly developed residential district where new residents and Catholics were gathering, and the community grew while celebrating Mass in a prefabricated church building. The same source gives August 26, 2016 as the date of the church's dedication, showing that the establishment of the parish and the dedication of its early worship space followed within ten days of one another.

The early community made the construction of a new church a major goal and built up its foundation through fundraising. The archdiocesan profile also describes efforts to strengthen the community through evangelization, outreach to inactive Catholics, and encouraging local Catholics to transfer their parish registration. These records show that the history of Sasu Catholic Church is less a continuation of an old Catholic village than the growth of a newly organized parish alongside a developing new town.
