Jimyo Catholic Church is a parish of the Archdiocese of Daegu in Jimyo-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu, where local Catholics continue their life of Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community. History & origins
Jimyo Parish was established on August 29, 2003, according to the official records of the Archdiocese of Daegu. With the organization of a new parish community in Dong-gu, Daegu, in the early 2000s, Catholics in the Jimyo area gained a basis for continuing their life of faith within an independent parish.
The archdiocese records that on February 21, 2021, the vicar general bishop made a pastoral visit to Jimyo Church and celebrated Mass for the First Sunday of Lent. This provides a verifiable record of episcopal pastoral visits and shared liturgy continuing after the establishment of the parish.
Since its establishment, Jimyo Parish has built its communal history through the connection between parish liturgy and archdiocesan pastoral care. The 2021 pastoral visit is a milestone showing how this relatively young parish has taken root as a community of faith in communion with the archdiocese.
