Hyeoryeong Retreat House

History & origins

No official chronology stating the exact opening date of Hyoryeong House of Heaven was found in this research. However, the Archdiocese of Daegu's magazine Light recorded a “first-anniversary celebration concert for the opening of Hyoryeong House of Heaven” in October 2015. On that evidence, the retreat house can be understood to have begun operating around 2014.

From its early period, the facility's character was oriented toward retreat and healing. A 2015 diocesan bulletin announced a mountain healing retreat there, and in 2016 both mountain healing retreats and senior retreats were listed. These programs were designed for small groups to remain in a natural setting, pray, and reflect on their lives.

Hyoryeong House of Heaven subsequently became established in the Archdiocese of Daegu's official institutional directory as a facility for individual retreats. Its development can therefore be traced from an opening around the mid-2010s, through healing and senior retreat programs, to a continuing archdiocesan space for personal and small-group retreats. Because the exact opening date was not confirmed, no specific day or month has been asserted.

The fact that the archdiocese continues to list Hyoryeong House of Heaven as a distinct retreat and training facility shows that its early programs developed into an enduring retreat space rather than remaining one-time events. Because operating arrangements and individual programs can change over time, this history retains only the facility's lasting character and the verified early records.
