The Catholic Women’s Education Center is listed in the Catholic Church directory of Korea as a retreat and prayer center belonging to the Archdiocese of Daegu. History & origins
The Catholic Women’s Education Center was established in Daegu in 1981 with assistance from the German Catholic Women’s Association. According to a homily by the Archbishop of Daegu, the center was originally located in Bongdeok-dong below Apsan rather than at its present site, and various educational programs for women were conducted there from its early years.
The center later moved to Building D of the Archdiocesan Education Center and continued its work. In 2021, a Mass of thanksgiving marked its 40th anniversary, accompanied by an exhibition of historical materials and reflection on the role of Catholic women in family and Church life. This history shows that the center is not a temporary facility but an institution that has accumulated decades of experience in women’s apostolate and faith formation within the archdiocese.
