Vatelot Education Center is a place for faith formation and retreats operated by the Sisters of Christian Doctrine. History & origins
The Catholic Church Directory in Korea records February 2011 as the date of establishment of Vatelot Education Center. The name and mission of the center come from the educational spirituality of Father Jean-Baptiste Vatelot, founder of the Sisters of Christian Doctrine.
According to the congregation's official history, Father Vatelot began an educational apostolate for girls and young people who had little access to schooling in the Lorraine region of France, and in 1722 he opened a school at Bruley. He also devoted himself to the spiritual and professional formation of teachers, and this educational mission became central to the identity of the congregation. The sisters came to Korea in 1966.
Vatelot Education Center in Daegu was established to continue that long educational tradition in the local Church through faith formation and retreats. Since its establishment in 2011, the center has served as a place where the congregation's educational charism is expressed through spiritual formation, retreats, and gatherings in the Daegu area.
