About this place
Gimpo Catholic Church is a parish of the Gimpo District in the Diocese of Incheon and serves as a central Catholic community with deep roots in the Gimpo urban area. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea identifies Our Lady, Queen of the Rosary, as the parish patron and records Gimpo as an active parish responsible for the sacramental, catechetical, and communal life of local Catholics.
A distinctive feature of Gimpo is the coexistence of a living parish community and a church building of recognized cultural value. Gimpo City and heritage records regard the present stone church as an important example of Catholic architecture built after the Korean War and preserve it as National Registered Cultural Heritage. Gimpo is therefore not merely a place to view an old building, but a parish in which the current faith life of local Catholics continues within a setting that also preserves a significant trace of postwar Korean Catholic architecture.
