About this place
Chuja Mission Station is a mission station under Seomun Parish in the Western Jeju City District of the Diocese of Jeju, serving the island Catholic community of Chuja-myeon, Jeju City. The Catholic Directory of Korea identifies Seomun Parish as its mother parish, and the Diocese of Jeju’s Mass guide also lists Chuja as a separate mission-station liturgical site. Its central role is to provide a local place where Catholics on Chuja, separated from the main island of Jeju, can sustain community life and participate in the Church’s liturgy.
Pastoral ties with the diocese continue as well. In August 2026, the Diocese of Jeju published an official video of the diocesan bishop’s homily at a Mass during a visit to Chuja Mission Station. This shows that, although administratively a mission station dependent on a parish, Chuja remains an island community actively included in the pastoral life of the diocese.
