About this place
Yegu is a Catholic mission station in Irun-myeon, Geoje-si, belonging to the Diocese of Masan. The nationwide Catholic directory lists “Yegu” as a mission station of the diocese, and its representative address matches the place information in this package. The Korean Catholic Bishops’ Conference also marks Yegu as a mission station in its guide to churches near tourist destinations, confirming its present identity as a small Catholic community on the southeastern coast of Geoje.
A diocesan statistical record also documents Yegu Mission Station in connection with Jisepo Parish. Such a mission station is not a separate parish with a resident priest, but a local center where Catholics continue prayer and liturgical life under the pastoral care of a mother parish. Yegu therefore has meaning as a place where Catholics in a coastal village can sustain communal faith without always traveling a long distance, while also showing visitors to Geoje that a local Catholic community continues in this area.
