About this place
Sinjang Mission Station is a Catholic mission community in Sinjang-ri, Aphae-eup, Sinan County, belonging to Aphaedo Parish in the Archdiocese of Gwangju. Both the archdiocese and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea confirm that it was established on November 1, 1949 and is located at 399-8 Aphae-ro.
Established in the late 1940s, it is a long-standing mission station where Catholics of Sinjang-ri maintain prayer and communal faith life in connection with their mother parish. Its long continuity as a mission community smaller than an independent parish is a defining feature.
Sinjang Mission Station is therefore best understood as a local faith community under the pastoral care of Aphaedo Parish. Its continuity since 1949 gives the place particular historical significance.
