About this place
Gyeolun Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Chuncheon, located in Gyeolun-ri, Hongcheon-eup, Hongcheon County, Gangwon State, and under the jurisdiction of Hongcheon Parish. The official diocesan list of mission stations confirms both the name “Gyeolun” and its present parish affiliation.
As a mission station, a place where Catholics living away from the parish church form a local community, Gyeolun serves as a local point of Catholic life for believers in and around Gyeolun-ri. The public diocesan material does not describe its current activities or architectural features in detail, so no unverified functions or traditions have been added.
History & origins
The official list of mission stations of the Diocese of Chuncheon records that Gyeolun Mission Station was established in March 1965. This confirms that by at least the mid-1960s a Catholic community organized at the level of a mission station had taken root in the Gyeolun-ri area.
Public official sources, however, do not separately document later construction or relocation of the chapel, changes of jurisdiction, or other major events. The history of Gyeolun Mission Station therefore uses only the verified establishment date as a chronological reference point and does not fill in the later history without evidence.
