About this place
Yongdae Mission Station belongs to Wontong Korean Martyrs Parish in the central district of the Diocese of Chuncheon. It is a local Catholic community for the faithful in the Yongdae area of Buk-myeon, Inje-gun, allowing them to continue communal faith life closer to home rather than relying solely on travel to the parish church. The Diocese of Chuncheon lists it as an existing mission station under Wontong Parish.
A mission station is smaller than a parish, but in the broad and mountainous Inje region it provides an important place for Catholics to gather in prayer and remain connected to their parish. Under the pastoral care of Wontong Parish, Yongdae Mission Station helps extend parish life to the dispersed communities of Buk-myeon.
History & origins
The official mission-station record of the Diocese of Chuncheon dates the establishment of Yongdae Mission Station to July 1997. From that time, the Yongdae area formed a mission-station community under Wontong Parish, providing Catholics in Buk-myeon, Inje, with a closer base for communal faith life.
Yongdae remains listed by the diocese as a mission station under Wontong Parish. The publicly available diocesan material does not provide a detailed chronology of the building, founders, or later renovations, so the securely verified historical points are its establishment in July 1997 and its continuing relationship with Wontong Parish.
