About this place
The facility of the Congregation of Our Lady of Apostles in Buk-myeon, Gapyeong County, is registered in the Korean Catholic Directory as the congregation’s novitiate under the Diocese of Chuncheon. Its English name is listed as Congregation of Our Lady of Apostles, and the directory identifies the house as a formation community of a women’s institute of consecrated life.
A novitiate is a place where those beginning and discerning religious life live a period of formation through prayer, community life, and learning the spirit of their congregation. This makes the house different in character from a parish church or a public retreat center. It is best understood as an internal center for formation and communal religious life within the Congregation of Our Lady of Apostles.
