About this place
Hyeonbuk Mission Station belongs to the Yeongbuk District of the Diocese of Chuncheon and is under Yangyang Parish. It serves as a local center of Catholic life for the faithful of Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun, who continue to participate in Mass, prayer, and community life in connection with their parish. The Diocese of Chuncheon identifies Hyeonbuk-ri as the area served by the mission station.
A mission station located away from the parish church enables Catholics in the area to sustain a shared life of faith closer to home. Hyeonbuk Mission Station fulfills this role within the pastoral jurisdiction of Yangyang Parish, linking local Catholics to the parish and allowing a small community to continue its liturgical and ecclesial life. It is a clear example of the mission-station structure used by the Diocese of Chuncheon to care for dispersed communities.
