About this place
Guljiri Mission Station is a mission station in the Central District of the Diocese of Chuncheon under the pastoral care of Hongcheon Parish. It serves as a local point of connection through which Catholics in and around Guljiri, Bukbang-myeon, Hongcheon, remain linked with their parish community, and official diocesan records confirm its affiliation with Hongcheon Parish.
The public diocesan information on Guljiri focuses mainly on basic facts such as its present affiliation and year of establishment, and does not provide an extensive separate history. The site is therefore best understood without adding unverified stories, as a mission-station community that connects local Catholics with their parish across the broad Hongcheon area.
History & origins
The Diocese of Chuncheon records 1960 as the year Guljiri Mission Station was established. This confirms that by 1960 the Catholic community in Guljiri had a recognized place within the diocesan mission-station structure.
Current diocesan records continue to list Guljiri as a mission station of Hongcheon Parish in the Central District. However, official public sources do not provide sufficient detail about later changes to the building or to jurisdiction. The historical account is therefore limited to the verified facts of its establishment in 1960 and its affiliation with Hongcheon Parish; further chronology should be added only if more detailed parish records become available.
