Balsan Mission Station

Balsan Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon, Gangwon State, within the Chuncheon District of the Diocese of Chuncheon. It is currently under Saembat Parish of St. Peter the Apostle. The diocese classifies Balsan as a local mission station rather than an independent parish, and it functions within the pastoral care of Saembat Parish as a place where Catholics in the Balsan area can continue their common faith life closer to home.

The diocesan record gives February 1965 as the date of Balsan’s establishment. Its present parent parish, Saembat, began much later as a quasi-parish in 2005 and became a parish in 2006, so the Catholic mission community at Balsan predates the current parish structure. The official Mass information for Saembat Parish also lists a Sunday Mass at Balsan separately, confirming that the mission station continues to function as a local community space linked to the parish.
