About this place
The Kkottongnae University branch of The Institute of Kkottongnae Brothers of Jesus is a religious community of the Brothers within the Diocese of Cheongju, living in close connection with a Catholic educational setting. The official directory of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea lists the community at 133 상삼길, 현도면 separately as the “Kkottongnae University branch,” distinguishing it from the institute’s motherhouse and its 맹동 parish branch. It is therefore better understood not as an ordinary parish church, but as a community of a male institute of consecrated life where religious life and an educational apostolate meet near the university community.
The Institute of Kkottongnae Brothers of Jesus has participated not only in Kkottongnae’s welfare work but also in educational apostolates that form people to continue a life of practical charity. This branch is significant as a community linked specifically to a university environment. Visitors should understand it not as an independent parish or a public pilgrimage site, but as a local community of the Brothers in the Diocese of Cheongju that carries out religious life and apostolic work in connection with Catholic education.
