About this place
Sari Mission Station is a Catholic mission community of the Diocese of Cheongju in Sari-myeon, Goesan-gun, and today it remains pastorally connected with Jeungpyeong Parish. Its existence and location are confirmed in the diocese’s current mission-station directory, and the Mass schedule of Jeungpyeong Parish also indicates regular Masses at Sari Mission Station. This shows that the site is not merely a former mission chapel preserved from the past but a living Catholic community still integrated into parish pastoral life.
The Catholic Encyclopedia’s entry on Jeungpyeong Parish likewise describes Sari-myeon as part of the parish territory and names Sari as one of its mission stations. Sari provides a nearby place for Catholics in a rural area to gather for Mass, prayer, and community life without having to rely exclusively on the main parish church. The Diocese of Cheongju has also included Sari in a walking pilgrimage route linking Jeungpyeong and Goesan, giving the site an additional role within the network of local Catholic places. Though small in scale, it connects parish life, the local village community, and the wider Catholic heritage of the region.
