About this place
Sancheok Mission Station is a Catholic mission community of the Diocese of Cheongju in Sancheok-myeon, Chungju, and today its liturgical life is connected with Eomjeong Parish. The mission station appears in the diocese’s current official directory, and the Mass schedule of Eomjeong Parish separately identifies Mass at Sancheok, confirming the present pastoral link between the two communities. It serves Catholics in the Sancheok area as a nearby place of faith in a region where the main parish church is some distance away.
As a mission station, Sancheok is not an independent territorial parish but a local community within parish ministry where Catholics gather for prayer and liturgy. Historical church records indicate that Sancheok was once listed among the mission stations of Mokhaeng-dong Parish, showing that the community continued even as parish jurisdictions in the region changed. Today it is pastorally connected with Eomjeong Parish. This continuity illustrates how parish churches and mission stations can share roles while remaining parts of a single diocesan community, sustaining Catholic life in the rural areas of northeastern Chungju.
