Sachang-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Seowon District in the Catholic Diocese of Cheongju, serving Catholics in the Sachang and Sajik living areas of Seowon-gu. The diocese’s current parish directory names Saint Philip the Apostle as its patron. Located in a dense urban residential area, the parish has developed as a place not only for liturgy but also for education, meetings, and the wider communal activities of parish life.

Sachang-dong grew within the urban expansion of western Cheongju and later became one of the important pastoral centers from which additional nearby parishes emerged. Historical reports from the Catholic Times show that the construction of its church mobilized not only local parishioners but support from communities across the diocese, and that educational, meeting, and community-serving facilities were incorporated into the building. Today the parish is best understood not simply through the achievement of one construction period but as a Catholic community that developed alongside a changing urban neighborhood and became part of a wider network of parishes serving western Cheongju.
