About this place
Hwaseong Mission Station is a local Catholic community in Cheongseong-myeon, Okcheon-gun, currently listed by the Diocese of Cheongju as a mission station. The address in the package matches the official diocesan list. The Korean Catholic Encyclopedia also records Hwaseong among the mission stations under Cheongsan Parish, showing that it is not an independent parish but a local Catholic community living under the pastoral care of a parish.
Unlike a parish church with a resident priest, a mission station is a local community structure that enables Catholics living at some distance from the parish church to pray together and continue their liturgical and faith life. The significance of Hwaseong lies less in institutional size than in the way local Catholics in Cheongseong-myeon have remained connected to parish pastoral care as a community. Rather than assuming current operational details or Mass schedules that the sources do not verify, it is best understood primarily as a continuing local mission community within the Diocese of Cheongju.
