About this place
Gyohyeon-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Cheongju in Chungju. Within the diocese’s pastoral structure for the Chungju area, it serves as a center for the local Catholic community. The diocese’s official parish record lists it as Gyohyeon-dong Catholic Church and names Saint Joseph as its patron. As a parish, it is the basic local community in which the faithful celebrate Mass and the sacraments, receive catechesis, share community life, and remain connected with the diocese and the universal Church.
With Saint Joseph as its patron, the parish also has significance as a place where Catholic community life has continued within the urban life of Chungju. The church is best understood not simply as a building, but as a pastoral place where the parish community gathers for prayer and liturgy and lives out its relationship with its neighbors.
