About this place
Gagok Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Cheongju serving the Catholic community in the Gagok area of Ochang-eup, Cheongju. Its location on the official diocesan list of mission stations matches the place information in the package, and the Korean Catholic Directory identifies Ochang Parish as its mother parish. Gagok should therefore be understood not as an independent parish but as a mission station within the pastoral territory of Ochang Parish.
Unlike a parish with a resident priest, a mission station is a local unit that allows Catholics living at some distance from the parish church to continue their faith life as a community. Gagok Mission Station is linked to Ochang Parish, providing a place where local Catholics can pray together and, according to parish pastoral arrangements, share in Mass and the sacraments. More than its size or operating pattern, its essential identity is that of a local community connected to Ochang Parish, illustrating the traditional Korean Catholic pastoral structure in which parishes and mission stations together sustain faith life across a wider area.
