About this place
Songbaek Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Busan, serving as a local community where Catholics in Sannae-myeon, Miryang, remain connected with their parish through Mass, prayer, and shared faith life. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea lists Songbaek separately among the mission stations of the Diocese of Busan, while the Korean Catholic Encyclopedia identifies Songbaek and Muan as mission stations of Miryang Parish.
A mission station is not an independent parish but a local Catholic community sustained within the pastoral care of a parish. Songbaek is therefore best understood as a small point of continuity for Catholic life in the broad rural area of Miryang, especially for believers living in Sannae-myeon at some distance from the parish church. The official and church-historical sources currently available clearly establish its affiliation and identity as a mission station, but they do not provide a specific date of foundation or a detailed account of its earliest formation.
