Samsan Parish was established on February 1, 1997, according to the Directory of the Catholic Church in Korea. It was formed during a period when the Diocese of Busan was expanding its parish structure in response to urban growth and pastoral needs in the Ulsan area, and it now stands as one of the parishes of the Ya-eum district. Its patron is Saint Peter Yu Tae-chol, the young Korean martyr.
This research did not find sufficiently strong documentation for the detailed process of parish division, an early temporary church, or the construction date of the present church. The safest historical anchor is therefore the confirmed 1997 establishment date. Later diocesan records show that Samsan has continued as a venue for parish and wider Catholic activities in the Ulsan area.
In 2025 the parish installed a lift and celebrated its blessing, a recent example of the community continuing to improve its existing facilities for practical needs. Within the verifiable history of Samsan, the establishment of the parish in 1997 and the continuing adaptation of its communal space over time form the clearest line of development.
