Moluundae Church

History & origins

Molundae Parish was established on February 18, 1998, with the Sacred Heart of Jesus as its patron. It began as an independent parish for local Catholics during a period of residential growth around Dadaepo and became established as one of the communities of the Hadan District in the Diocese of Busan.

In 2013, the parish marked the 15th anniversary of its foundation with an “Evening of Grace.” Listed in diocesan notices specifically as a fifteenth-anniversary event, the program provided an occasion for the community to look back on its years since foundation in a prayerful setting. Later diocesan news continued to record parish-day events, showing an ongoing tradition of communal anniversaries and gatherings.

In 2024, an intergenerational event brought together the parish senior academy and Sunday-school children. The activity, in which older parishioners welcomed the younger generation and listened to one another’s stories, shows that more than two decades after its establishment the parish had broadened its attention to relationships between generations. The history of Molundae Parish thus reflects both its rooting in the local area and its development as a community in which faith is shared across generations.
