Korean Martyr Blessed Palma Sisters

The Namcheon Community of the Palma Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs is a religious community located within the Cathedral Church of Namcheon in the Diocese of Busan. The Catholic Church directory in Korea lists it separately as the congregation’s “Namcheon Community.” The cathedral parish and the religious community living within its setting are distinct ecclesial units. This place should therefore not be treated as another name for Namcheon Cathedral, but as a local community in which the sisters live their consecrated vocation within the cathedral environment.

The Palma Sisters place at the heart of their identity the faith and fraternal charity of the Korean martyrs and a consecrated life modeled on Christ. The Namcheon Community is a place where that spirituality is lived within one of the cathedral communities of the Diocese of Busan. Visitors can distinguish the parish’s liturgical space from the religious community while also seeing how parish ministry and consecrated life can exist in close relationship within the Catholic Church in Korea.
