Park Yu-sik Andrew had already been appointed on July 21, 1988, as priest in charge of Bugok Catholic Church concurrently with another assignment. This indicates that pastoral preparation was under way before the parish was formally erected.
After its formal establishment, Bugok became a parish of the Geumjeong District in the Diocese of Busan and took St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon as its patron. The official sources presently available do not explain in detail which parish territory it was separated from or how its first church building was prepared, so those points are not inferred.
