The Busan community of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi is a women’s institute of consecrated life located within the Diocese of Busan. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea currently lists it as the Busan community of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi, S.F.M.A. The place should therefore be understood not as a territorial parish church but as a local religious community where sisters live common life, pray, and carry out their apostolic vocation.

The congregation is an international Franciscan missionary institute that combines Franciscan spirituality with apostolic mission. The Korean Catholic Encyclopedia records that the sisters entered Korea in 1980 and subsequently carried out various forms of apostolate in the Diocese of Busan, including social-welfare and parish-related service. The sources located for this review, however, do not sufficiently explain the continuity between those earlier Busan ministries and the present community in Eomgung-dong. The current place is therefore described only within the securely verified scope: a Busan community of the congregation belonging to the Diocese of Busan.
