About this place
Ami Catholic Church is a parish church in the Hadan District of the Diocese of Busan, serving as a center for liturgy and the sacraments, catechesis, and community life for Catholics in the Ami and Gamcheon area of Busan’s Saha-gu. The Diocese of Busan’s official parish information lists Ami as a parish of the Hadan District and confirms its present status as an established parish community serving local Catholics.
The Catholic community in Ami has a historical background in which relief work, education, and evangelization came together in one of Busan’s impoverished hillside districts after the Korean War. However, major Catholic sources give conflicting dates for the exact establishment of the parish, so this review does not fix a definitive chronology. The present Ami Catholic Church is therefore most safely understood as a parish of the Diocese of Busan that continues the faith life of the local community while carrying that postwar pastoral background.
