About this place
Songhyeon-dong Catholic Church is the parish church of Songhyeon-dong Parish in the Andong district of the Diocese of Andong, with St. Paul Chong Ha-sang as its patron saint. The directory of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea lists Songhyeon-dong as a current parish of the diocese and also records two mission stations under its care. The church is therefore more than a single building: it is the center of a parish community in western Andong where Catholics celebrate Mass and the sacraments, receive catechesis, take part in community life, and remain pastorally connected with the parish's mission stations.
A parish church is both a place for regular liturgical celebration and a space in which believers live important moments of faith—such as baptism, marriage, and funerals—within the Church community. The Sisters of Christian Doctrine serve alongside Songhyeon-dong Parish, and the current directory confirms the parish's continuing status as an independent pastoral unit. Details that change frequently, such as the current pastor, Mass schedule, or number of parishioners, are intentionally omitted here. What matters for a visitor is that Songhyeon-dong Catholic Church gathers the liturgical and communal life of local Catholics under the patronage of St. Paul Chong Ha-sang and forms part of the Diocese of Andong's local pastoral network together with its mission stations.
