Seongyu Mission Station belongs to Gaeun Parish in the Diocese of Andong and is located in Gaeun-eup, Mungyeong. The Korean Catholic Directory lists Seongyu as a current mission station of the Diocese of Andong, and a 2026 on-site report by the Catholic Peace Newspaper likewise identifies it as one of the mission stations under Gaeun Parish. It is not a parish with a resident priest, but a local community where Catholics can gather nearby for prayer and mission-station services while remaining connected to the parish's celebration of Mass and the sacraments.

A recent field report states that Seongyu once came close to closure as the rural population and number of Catholics declined, but that the remaining believers prayed to preserve the mission station and continued to strengthen community fellowship, allowing it to remain active. The interior retains liturgical elements long used by local Catholics, including an altar, a statue of the Blessed Virgin and Child, and Stations of the Cross, and it also preserves the memory of a priest who came from the community. These features show that the significance of Seongyu lies not only in the age of its building, but in the continuing practice of even a small number of believers gathering for prayer, caring for one another, and sustaining a Catholic community.
