About this place
Namjeok Mission Station belongs to Seomun-dong Parish in the Diocese of Andong and is the local Catholic community through which believers in the Namjeok area of Sangju remain connected with their parish in prayer and liturgical life. The official parish page of the Diocese of Andong lists Namjeok among the mission stations under Seomun-dong Parish and, together with Nakseo and Seoman, shows how the pastoral care of the urban parish extends into surrounding areas. Its essential present identity is that of a nearby faith space where Catholics in Namjeok can continue to gather within the parish's pastoral network.
The significance of Namjeok is not that it is a miniature independent parish, but that it allows a Catholic community to be sustained in a residential area away from the parish church. Through visits from the parish priest, shared prayer, and mutual care among local Catholics, the mission-station community remains connected with Seomun-dong Parish. The introduction is therefore best centered on its current affiliation, function, and meaning as a local community rather than on historical questions such as its foundation date, which are not sufficiently documented here.
