About this place
The Andong Holy Family Community of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary is a women’s institute of consecrated life located in Andong within the Diocese of Andong. The Catholic directory of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea registers this house as the congregation’s “Andong Holy Family Community,” confirming its present name and affiliation and distinguishing it from other local communities of the same institute.
The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary is an international missionary religious institute founded in 1877. In its official introduction, it describes itself as a community ready to be sent beyond national and regional boundaries to proclaim the Good News. The Andong Holy Family Community is therefore best understood not as an independent parish church but as a local religious community in which the sisters live the institute’s missionary vocation through common life and prayer.
