About this place
Hucheon-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Northern District in the Diocese of Andong and serves as the center of sacramental and liturgical life for Catholics in Hucheon-dong and nearby areas of Yeongju. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea identifies Saint Peter as the parish patron and confirms that Buseok Mission Station is under its pastoral care. The Diocese of Andong also lists Hucheon-dong among the main parishes of the Northern District, showing its importance as a pastoral base in the Yeongju area. Its present role is best understood through the way it connects the parish community with a rural mission station.
The parish not only serves its own community but also maintains ties with surrounding rural areas and is used as a venue for Northern District education and gatherings. The historical site associated with Hong Yu-han in Dansan, Yeongju, is also linked to Hucheon-dong Parish, giving the parish a position that connects ordinary pastoral life with memories of early Catholic faith in Korea. In this sense, Hucheon-dong is a Northern District faith center linking an urban parish community with nearby mission and historical sites.
