About this place
Hupo Catholic Church is a parish of the East Coast District in the Diocese of Andong and serves as the center of sacramental and liturgical life for Catholics in the southern coastal area of Uljin County. Both the Diocese of Andong and the Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea identify Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon as the parish patron and confirm Hupo as an independent parish. The diocese also lists an education hall at the same site among its retreat and education facilities, showing that the parish provides a base not only for liturgy but also for faith formation and community gatherings. Its present identity is best described as the parish serving the southern Uljin area within the East Coast District.
Hupo lies in a coastal living area connected with Uljin and Yeongdeok, and the parish brings together the everyday Catholic life of believers in this region. Although it does not currently have mission stations under its care, it is used for local events and diocesan gatherings and therefore fulfills a distinct parish role within the East Coast District. Visitors can best understand the church through its identity as an East Coast District parish under the patronage of Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon rather than through changeable Mass schedules or personnel information.
