About this place
Dongno Mission Station belongs to Jeomchon-dong Parish in the Diocese of Andong and serves the Catholic community of Jeokseong-ri in Dongno-myeon, Mungyeong. It stands on a hill overlooking Jeokseong village and is the local place through which the pastoral care of Jeomchon-dong Parish reaches Catholics in Dongno-myeon.
The Dongno and Yeou-mok area preserves both the memory of Catholic villages formed by believers fleeing persecution and the scars of the Korean War. Dongno Mission Station is therefore not only a place where the present local community prays and remains connected with parish pastoral care, but also a place that invites remembrance of the religious and wartime history accumulated around it. The official sources conflict, however, on the mission station’s own founding date, so the history section does not present a definitive chronology.
